The Year of Faith declared by the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI will help in the faith formation of the youths of the world, and the CBCN Youth Committee has put in place a programme of activities for the participation of the country’s youths in the programme.
This remark was made by the Youth Animator/ Secretary of the CBCN Youth Committee, Rev. Fr. Charles Ndubisi during a recent chat with Catholic News Service of Nigeria (CNSNg), in Abuja. According to him, the youths of the Church have a major role to play in the Year of Faith celebration because they are the future of the Church and the world.
According to the Youth Committee Secretary, Catholic Youths of Nigeria will participate actively in the Year of Faith declared by the Holy Father and the CBCN Youth Committee has outlined some activities for all youth bodies of the Church in the country in this respect.
He continued: “The year of Faith will enable the youths of the Church to deepen their faith in God by understanding more about the Church and what she stands for. We are organizing formation of chaplains and executives of youth groups as a way of living out the mandate of the Second Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops and fulfilling the call of the Pope which stressed on the formation of youths.”
According to Fr. Ndubisi, the programmes which have been planned to take place within the year include: formation programmes on new evangelization for all the youth groups in the country, quiz programmes, retreat, drama and singing competitions. All the activities according to the CBCN Secretary will take place at diocesan, deanery, provincial and national levels.
