Upon arrival at his chambers Rev. Lawi Pokti, Christian Association of Nigeria CAN chairman Bauchi LGA presented the clergy present to the Emir saying, ‘we have come here today to see you as you have directed us to.’ The Royal father welcomed all and said, he has called all the clergy at the instance of the recent crisis in Tafawa Balewa. He decried the spate of violence, destruction of lives and property and said, ‘the clergy are stake holders in building confidence in the people to forgive the past and maintain the virtue of peaceful coexistence.’
On his part, Rev. Pokti thanked the royal father, the limanin Bauchi  and the government for pioneering  this meeting with the Emirate Council and initiating the peace process. He wished that religious leaders practice what they preached saying, ‘if we don’t, our lives and speeches will only be wide open graves.’ Going biblical, the cleric said, the word of God forbids killing; no more  tit for tat; if someone asks you to take him one mile take him two; if you don’t forgive, you will not be forgiven.’

He decried remarks by the Governor Mallam Isa Yuguda that he will wipe out Tafawa Balewa. He said, ‘I dared him that, he should not touch what God has created.’ The man of God recalled the sad incidence in which an unknown bomber went to the United Methodist Church, UMC, opposite the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH, Bauchi, during a church service and dropped a bag containing a bomb which by the grace of God was detonated by Security Agents.
